Exiting Egypt Chapter 10 P1
Exiting Egypt
Eighth Plague – Swarms of Locust
Exodus 10:1-20
By Dennis Lee: Chapter 10B P1
Read Exodus 10:1-20
In the eighth plague Gods wants of believers to teach about the judgment of God. The judgment of God needs to be taught just as well as God’s wonderful grace and mercy, because one without the others doesn’t do justice to God’s holiness.
God is just, and therefore God must execute justice and as such He judges the world in righteousness. This is what the Bible teaches here in this eighth plague.
That you may tell in the hearing of your son and your son's son the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the Lord (Ex. 10:2 NKJV)
And while people may deny this fact, such denial doesn’t stop the truth of its reality. God is going to judge this world and sin. This is brought out quite forcefully by the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Roman church where he said,
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Rom. 1:18 NKJV)
And so, this was one of the very reasons why God sent forth His plagues upon the nation of Egypt, and the day is coming when God will judge the world by His righteousness, and knowing this, God wants to make sure that we teach the next generation to come of His coming judgment upon sin and evil, because one day it is coming, and God’s wants all to escape His coming wrath.
Moses told Israel that God had given to them the law and that God’s statues and righteous judgments are contained within the law, and that no other nation has been given such an honor, therefore he called Israel a great nation, but with it he then warns them,
Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren (Deut. 4:9 NKJV)
